Jaminni
Prokash Gangooly was born in 1906 in Bengal. He loved exploring colors and
shapes since his childhood. He grew up surrounded by village life and rivers-
it left a lasting impression on his imagination.
He studied at
the Government School of Art in Calcutta. There he learned from some of the
finest artists of his time. His education gave him a solid base but Gangooly
was always curious to try new things. He mixed modern techniques with
traditional Indian themes. This is how he created art that felt fresh yet
familiar.
Gangooly’s
paintings show everyday life in Bengal. He captured the joy of festivals and
the emotions of ordinary people. His style balanced realism with modernism
that’s why his each piece feel alive and relatable. A fun fact - he loved
literature and it also influenced the storytelling quality in his paintings.
He exhibited
his work widely in India and abroad. He earned great respect for his unique
